London Olympics 2012: IOC doesn't want South Korean to accept bronze medal
Read about it here: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/olympics-fourth-place-medal/ioc-says-south-korean-player-t-accept-bronze-145955541--oly.html
The IOC doesn't want Jongwoo Park to accept the bronze medal for men's soccer because he held up a sign with a political statement. Athletes are banned from making political statements.
South Korea won the soccer game against Japan. Park held up a sign that said "Dokdo is our land".
South Korea and Japan each claim to own this piece of land in between South Korea and Japan. South Korea calls the islets Dokdo. Japan calls the islets Takeshima. Both countries are passionate about saying they own the islands.
When I was in Korea I would hear Koreans talking about Dokdo. A few years ago they even had an event in New York City where they gave out bracelets that said that Dokdo belongs to Korea. I think it will be a never ending feud between the 2 countries.

Day 15 Results
Only one more day left. I've enjoyed writing about the Olympics. I am an American, but I kept up with what South Korea was doing. I watched a lot of events on TV in the USA, but the coverage wasn't very good in my opinion. Of South Korea's events I saw the vaulter that won gold and the volleyball team playing against the USA.
On day 15 South Korea did not earn any medals. They are in 5th place by number of gold medals. They are in 9th place by total medals with 27.

South Korean weightlifter dislocates elbow at London Olympics
Read about it here: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/olympics-fourth-place-medal/weightlifter-sa-jae-hyouk-dislocates-elbow-london-olympics-083825819--oly.html
Sa Jae-Hyouk is 77kg (170 pounds). He was trying to lift 162kg (357 pounds) when he dislocated his elbow.
Ouch. I would never try to lift double my body weight. I wouldn't even try to lift half of my body weight! I guess I will never understand the appeal of weightlifting.
There is a picture of his dislocated elbow on the article. I didn't include it here for copyright reasons.
Here's the video :
(Warning: Don't watch the video if this sort of thing grosses you out--although it happens so fast you can't really tell.)

Legally blind archer helps South Korea set 1st world records at London Olympics
Read about it here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/skorea-claims-world-records-in-mens-archery-at-london-games/2012/07/27/gJQAevWMDX_story.html
A legally blind archer from South Korea has already set a world record at the London Olympics. Im Dong-hyun broke his own record with a score of 699. He set the previous record in May in Turkey.
Im Dong-hyun has 10 percent vision in his left eye and 20 percent in his right. He does not wear glasses for the event. He relies on the differences between colors on the target.
I think that is a great accomplishment. He is an example of how you shouldn't let a disability keep you from achieving your dream. It's amazing when someone with limited vision can triumph over other athletes with better eyesight!!

Official Korean cheering song for London Olympics 2012
PSY (싸이) - Korea (코리아)
I love that Korea likes to have songs to cheer on their teams. Psy wrote this years cheering song for the London Olympics. He also wrote a songs in the past.
I think this is great and it would be cool if the USA had a cheering song!
Hopefully I'll keep up with the Olympics and post any Korean results!
