Sochi Olympics 2014: Kim Yuna controversy

It seems like a lot of people are upset that Kim Yuna did not win the gold medal in figure skating. At the end of the short program she was in first place. After the free skate she was in 2nd place behind the Russian skater Adelina Sotnikova.

I was surprised that she didn't get the gold medal. Her performance was really good on both nights. She lost to the Russian skater by 5 points. I read that the Russian skater won because her skating moves were more difficult so she earned more points for them. Others think that the judging was unfair. There are tons of articles on the Internet about the controversy because a lot of people think Kim Yuna was robbed of the Gold medal.

I understand why people think the judging was rigged because the home country's skater won. I'd feel bad if I had just won a gold medal and everyone else is focusing on how the silver medalist should have won.

Kim Yuna won the gold medal in Vancouver 4 years ago. She was hoping to be a back-to-back Olympic champion.

Kim Yuna will be retiring after the Olympics.
